History of WHBC

Woodland Heights Baptist Church was founded on April 10, 1910 with forty-two charter members.  Across the years the church has ministered to the community and to the world through its affiliations with the Richmond Baptist Association, the Baptist General Association of Virginia, the Southern Baptist Convention, and the Coorperative Baptist Fellowship.  Members of the congregation have gone forward to serve as missionaries, pastors, teachers, musicians, and chaplains.  During its lifetime, Woodland Heights has sponsored the creation of three other Richmond congregations: Jahnke Road Baptist Church, Bon Air Baptist Church, and Derbyshire Baptist Church.  In 2001, the church completed a building renovation project that added new offices and classrooms, and the members look forward to serving God in the Woodland Heights community in the new millenium.  The congregation looks forward to the celebration of its Centennial in 2010.

Note: This brief history will be expanded significantly in the coming months.
